Catriona Gray fashionably aces hosting stint at Miss Universe 2022
Catriona Gray hosting the Miss Universe 2022 pageant was an opportunity of a lifetime, and she sure aced it.
Without missing a beat, she brought her A game in the hosting department during the coronation night of Miss Universe 2022 last Saturday night, January 14, 2023, in Louisiana, United States.
And literally in her fashion, the 29-year-old model/singer showed off the Filipino creativity in high couture as backstage host of Miss Universe 2022, just as she did when she competed, and won, in the pageant’s 2018 edition.
Her first look for the evening was a bright yellow asymmetrical gown designed by Julianne Syjuco, which she complemented with crystal-embellished peep-toe heels and jewelry from JJ Jiao.
Celebrity stylists Myrrh Lao To and Mai Chua prepared this outfit for Catriona.
Catriona’s second OOTD was this pastel blue, one-shoulder cutout gown by Jaggy Glarino which she paired with accessories designed by Manny Halasan.
For this look, she was styled by her bestie, Justine Aliman.
In an Instagram post on Monday, January 16, 2023 (PH time), Catriona thanked Paula Shugart and Amy Emmerich, the Miss Universe Organization president and chief executive officer, respectively, for making her dream come true.
She wrote, “Achievement unlocked [emoji] It’s always been a dream to be in the hosting line up of @missuniverse[emoji]
“Thank you so much @realpaulashugart @amyemmerich for the trust!”
Catriona also thanked her stylists, “Also huge thanks to my styling team who worked magic for me last minute and found a way around not being able to have fittings (I was literally in Manila for a few hours to pack[emoji]) and being in the middle of holiday season!
“I appreciate you! And to Mama @justine.aliman19 for stepping out of her usual role to be my everything this trip![emoji] Love you!”

That was the first time Catriona served as a backstage host for the pageant’s main event.
Reigning Miss Universe titleholders usually host the preliminary competition, which Catriona did in 2019 before crowning Zozibini Tunzi of South Africa in Georgia, USA.
