Netizens question former Senate President Tito Sotto’s remark on SIM Card Registration Act

After 34 years of my proposal, now a law! Praise God!!!”

Ani Lacson, “Yes, I still remember my interpellation when you sponsored the measure on the floor. My first question was: what does SIM stand for? I also vividly remember your response.”

Gayundin si Senator Joel Villanueva.

Sabi nito, “Thanks to you Boss SP @sotto_tito. This is also your legacy as it is one of your pet bills Sir. God bless you more!”

NETIZENS REACT

Wala pa pong sim card that time.

Saad pa ng isa, “34 yrs is 1988. The very first sim card was in 1991 in Munich.”

Pang-uuyam pa ng isa: “34 years? May SIM card na ba nun?”

Saad ng isa pa, “SIM Card? 34 years ago? As in 1988? Nung vice mayor ka sa QC?”

Dagdag ng isa pa, “Wala. 1991 pa yung development of first sim card sa Munich. In other words, yung mga sinaunang cellphones ay hindi pa need lagyan ng sim cards.”

Biro ng isa pa, “’After 34 years’ – So thats 1988.

Sabi niya sa kanyang tweet kahapon din, “In 1998 as Public Services comm chair, i asked NTC to issue a directive registering prepaids. They did! SC issued a TRO that lasted for decades!”

Tugon sa kanya ng isang netizen, “But, see, he can’t say 1988, which was 34 years ago.

Dagdag ng isa pa, “And he wasn’t a senator in 1988, too. Pano ba yan? Baka nalito?”
